Love These!!!

I had a few of these dry erase pockets from the dollar section.  I used them when students were working in centers since I only had a few.  Well...I hit up Amazon and I found a pack of 25 of them (in bright fun colors!) for a decent price!  Of course I got free shipping on them!!  I am in love! :-)

I am a firm believer in presenting material in a variety of ways and giving students a variety of mediums as practice.  I whipped these bad boys out in math this week and you would have thought that we were doing a time activity for the first time!  HAHA!  They were just so pumped to be using the pockets!

I love the little mini eraser two packs.  They are perfect for individual use of whiteboards.  My students are obsessed with them!  They are even magnetic which adds an extra fun element for my kiddos!  I found some in the beginning of the year.  I just last week found more.  I was so excited and now have a full class set and then some.  I have found that they hold up really well! :)

Hmmm...my friends and I used to have sweat Sundays.  It was THE BEST!  After a fun night out Saturday, everyone would come over to our apartment in their sweats and we'd watch a movie and have snacks.  It's such a fun memory!

Yellow- Favorite Sports Team
Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears...HANDS DOWN!!
Go Cubs Go!! I'm a diehard Cubbie fan...but they are having a terrible start to the season!

Hmmm...I love getting manicures and pedicures.  It is just so relaxing to me and I love having my toes ready for flip flops or sandals.  I LOVE SPRING and wearing open toed shoes!!

I'm going to try and start math stations or rotations for the rest of the year.  But, I need HELP! I know I've seen blog posts about it, but I can't find what I'm looking for.  I'm going to post more about it for the rest of this week, but let me know...

Telling Time Flash Freebie and Proofreaders Wanted!!!

Happy Sunday night, my friends!  Wow, is it just me or do weekends go by OH.SO.FAST!?!?

In math, we have been reviewing telling time.  Then, we have been extending our learning by going over other names for time (half past...quarter to...etc.) and some basic extended time.

Here is a little SCOOT game I created for elapsed time.  After we practiced and reviewed, this was a fun way to assess my students on their knowledge.  My kids just loved it!  It is very basic.  For example.  It shows a time.  Then it gives a little situation...We played Candyland for 30 minutes, now what time is it?

Have you seen Amy Lemon's freebie The Story of Me?  Check it out.  It's fabulous.  I've extended it by creating a brainstorming page and doubling the writing portion for my second graders.  We laminate the cover and they are so excited for their own personal book!

5.  ABC Countdown

The end of the year is coming quickly.  We always add some excitement to the end of the year by doing an ABC countdown.  The kids just go crazy over it.  They get so excited!! :-)  There are so many fun options, but I am attaching a little freebie with the note we send home to the parents and some ideas.  I hope it helps you create your own and add some new ideas to your end of the year fun!  It's in word so it can be editable!

Tried it Tuesday!

So I found this fun "new to me blog" Fourth Grade Flipper and a fun new linky party!  I am participating for the first time in Tried It Tuesday.

We were encouraged at an inservice we had a while back to try some new websites in our classroom.  This was one of them....

Go to this website...Build Your Wild Self

Students get to create themselves as a wild character.  Seriously- go there right now.  Check this site out!  They can add all sorts of crazy things and they.just.love.it.  I had many students try it at home as well!  They wanted to make more than one!   After you make your character, it gives you a name and tells you about the wild self you created.  You can even print them!

Then, after they made their character, I had my kiddos write a story about it!  I forgot to take pictures of the finished products, but they are the best!  Here is a little freebie that you can use if you'd like.  I'm new to using Google Docs- so I hope this works!  This is a fun little way to incorporate imagination, technology, and descriptive writing.  LOVE!


It is so fun and simple- I hope you can try it in your classroom as well!

April Currently and a New Unit!

I love that it's April!  I love that we are finally starting to get some spring weather!  I love that I have one last day to soak up Spring break before heading back tomorrow!  Since it's April, what is more fun than linking up with Farley and her Currently linky.

Listening- I am so so so excited that baseball is back!  Baseball season makes me so happy.  I love my Cubbies with a passion.  Here's hoping this season will be better than last! :)

Wanting-  oh, just one more peanut butter egg...MMMM!!!  Delicious!!!

Needing-  I think to go along with some spring cleaning, I need to go through my clothes and get rid of what I don't wear.  We don't have a lot of closet space and my poor husband is so patient with my love for clothes! :)

Advice-  I'm still a newbie, but I have found it very important to find a balance.  I write a blog post when I have something to say or share.  I don't pressure myself to do so many a week or whatnot.  I have too much stress in my life already, and this is supposed to be fun!
